Most people can pick out a diamond from an assortment of gems. But when it comes to having a deeper understanding of what makes one diamond worth more than another (knowing which kind of cut it is, the color, the carat size, and the clarity), that’s where it gets a little cloudy. To help you keep your 4Cs straight, as well as test how deep your diamond-related knowledge goes, read through the following questions and see how many you can answer correctly.

Correct answer: Carat. This is the unit of measurement for the physical weight of diamonds. One carat is equal to 1/5 gram. The carat weight is the most objective of the diamond’s 4Cs. But keep in mind: the increase in value is not proportionate to the size increase, as there are other aspects (as mentioned above) that factor into the overall value of the diamond.
